tensile strength of 4550 Psi.

Improper installation of a vinyl fence
and the effects of wind!

Traditionally most vinyl fences are installed without any pipe reinforcement inside the posts. It is very common to just cement around the outside of the vinyl post and sometimes inside the lower portion of the posts.
Even though this technique is accepted in the vinyl industry, heavy wall thickness  of vinyl posts are required, depending on the fence style.
The failer point or what we call sheer point on a vinyl fence is generally the lower vinyl post area at or near or the ground surface as in the picture above  of this vinyl fence failure due to high wind loads. 


High gusting winds will effect fences, they become subject to forces and applied directional loads on the panels causing stress on the posts pushing and pulling this may cause damage to posts resulting in fence failure.
Slip Mounts used with 2-3/8" galvanized  pipe will  increase the vinyl post with the internal strength  the use of 2-3/8" pipe and Slip Mounts will prevent post ground sheer and post deflection in high gusting winds.
